The Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation (MCFM) is a nonprofit organization established more than 40 years ago by family mediators interested in sharing knowledge and setting guidelines for family mediation. MCFM is the oldest professional organization in Massachusetts dedicated to family mediation. MCFM sets standards to guide the professional practice of family mediation in Massachusetts, and offers a certification program for qualified members.

With approximately 220 members, MCFM sets standards to guide the professional practice of family mediation in Massachusetts, and offers a certification program for qualified members.

In addition to providing continuing educational programs, MCFM publishes the Family Mediation Quarterly, a publication that provides a forum in which MCFM family mediators and others write on topics of interest to mediators and the general public.

MCFM serves the general public of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and its members by providing information about divorce and family mediation. It also maintains a mediator referral directory so that people seeking services can find family mediators when issues arise. Our goal is to provide the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with information and resources about divorce and family mediation.  We also maintain a referral directory so that people seeking services can find family mediators when issues arise.
