Practice Details
Getting divorced and resolving family law issues involves transitions that are not easy. I specialize 100% in divorce mediation, and I will guide you through these transitions with compassion, treating you and your concerns with respect. We will work together, one issue at a time, to create solutions that work for you and your family and ensure that the focus stays on the healthiest process and outcome for you and your children.
I have successfully mediated over 1800 divorce cases in the last 20 years.
Because I specialize, I am able to be highly efficient. I will send you a draft of all court documents, including a completed separation agreement, within 1 day of our first meeting. Many couples appreciate this because divorce is a time of uncertainty. Seeing a draft of the whole divorce package so quickly removes this uncertainty and allows couples to start looking to the future rather than the pains of the past.
This specialization and efficiency also enables me to offer affordable, flat fee rates for divorce mediation--see "Fee Information" below.
My mediation style is active. I use my knowledge of family law and my expertise with numbers to help you understand a) the issues that have to be addressed in divorce, and b) the financial implications of the choices you are making in mediation, whether choices about support or division of assets and debts. When you are stuck, I will brainstorm options with your, drawing on my experiences with 1800 other couples. This active approach is a key to leveling the playing field in the mediation process, which can otherwise be dominated by a spouse with a stronger personality.
Finally, I am particularly comfortable with the financial dimensions of the divorce. As one client noted, I have many free calculators on my website, some of them unique, that instantly provide calculations that divorce financial planners charge thousands of dollars to do. I do pension present value calculations, I write QDROs/DROs for clients, and I keep a custom, easy-to-follow financial calculator running during our mediation sessions so that you understand financial outcomes at all times.
