***  Training Announcement From Elder Decisions®  ***

Elder Decisions® Elder / Adult Family Mediation Training (Online) -- Starts April 13, 2026

Interested in facilitating conversations around transitions of aging? This live, online training teaches multi-party mediation skills for working with older adults and their families around topics such as caregiving, living arrangements, communication, decision-making, finances, family real estate, and inheritance.

Join seasoned mediators and trainers Arline Kardasis and Crystal Thorpe, with guest experts from the fields of elder law and gerontology, for 6 half-days packed with content, skill-building, role plays, and opportunities to interact with other participants. The strategies and best practices discussed are transferable to mediation in other contexts, and past participants have raved about the program and how it has helped deepen their mediation work.

April 13th to May 7th, 2026, via Zoom

Six half-days, from 12:15 to 5:00 PM EDT (three Mondays and three Thursdays)

  • Monday, 4/13
  • Thursday, 4/16

  • Monday, 5/4

Scholarships and discounts are available to welcome and support greater diversity in the field.

This training is approved for 16 hours of Additional Mediation Training by the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of ADR Programs, under Part 146 of the Rules of the Chief Administrative Judge. Please note that final placement on any court roster is at the discretion of the local Administrative Judge; participation in a course does not guarantee placement on a local court roster; some courts may require additional training and experience beyond Part 146’s requirements; and acceptance on court rosters may depend on a court’s need for mediators at any given time and may include a particular court’s need for mediators with specific case-type training or experience.
