"Microaggressions – Major Impacts: Practical Strategies for Addressing Both"
May 27, 2021
9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Zoom)
A workshop on how to address microaggressions. What should you do when you hear a colleague use a stereotype that makes you cringe? Or when something you’ve said inadvertently offends your colleague? In addition to challenging 1:1 scenarios, microaggressions such as these can have major, adverse impacts, and addressing microaggressions can have systemic effects.
Building on their previous workshops on implicit bias, BLC’s David Hoffman, Audrey Lee, and Matt Thompson will lead this interactive workshop in which role plays and videos will be used to show how microaggressions can be successfully addressed. Small group discussions will give participants opportunities to brainstorm strategies and try them out. Participation via Zoom, with a cap on enrollment of 45 participants.
Cost: $100, with scholarships available if needed.
